A Tour Of A La Ronde

If I was headed to the UK and could wander anywhere, I might just go to A La Ronde, a sixteen-sided cottage decorated by two sisters in the 1790s. The closets are shaped like wedges of pie and the rooms in between have some fantastic decorations, including friezes made from game bird feathers, landscapes made from lichen, and an upstairs gallery shellacked with shells. A great silvery gazing ball hangs in the central room, which is shaped like an octagon. Their will stipulated that the property could only be passed down to "unmarried kinswomen" but now it is managed by the National Trust.
