Hardwick Hall: Incredible historic home of Bess of Hardwick, who was a force to be reckoned with, which is now managed by the National Trust. I don’t know how there haven’t been a million movies made about her.

Also, if you think you’ll visit more than one National Trust property, you should buy one of their Explorer passes to save money. :)

Haworth: A beautiful historic village in Yorkshire, with a cobblestone street leading up a hill to the Brontes’ home, church, and school. The parsonage has been well preserved and is worth a tour. The village itself is beautiful and prides itself on just having indie shops and cafes, but the extra  layer of literary history makes the place feel extra magical.

If you can, you should go to Keighley, then get the old steam train to Haworth.

A Tour Of A La Ronde: If I was headed to the UK and could wander anywhere, I might just go to A La Ronde, a sixteen-sided cottage decorated by two sisters in the 1790s. The closets are shaped like wedges of pie and the rooms in between have some fantastic decorations, including friezes made from game bird feathers, landscapes made from lichen, and an upstairs gallery shellacked with shells. A great silvery gazing ball hangs in the central room, which is shaped like an octagon. Their will stipulated that the property could only be passed down to "unmarried kinswomen" but now it is managed by the National Trust.
