“Don’t want to assume what you are/aren’t doing, but I always think about this article when someone is going through a difficult time. It’s good orientation for ourselves / the community we can share with. It also has some helpful actions- like offering specific things/support within our capacity. Separately, and from my own experience, some people want to avoid talking about The Thing. But some people might be relieved to talk about The Thing. I have loved when a friend called me and said “maybe you can tell me about them?” when someone I loved died. I didn’t have to talk about how sad I was. I could talk about the love my grief was wrapped around. Caveats and nuance abound, but it could be an option.”
