“James Baldwin - Leo Sun, Leo or Virgo Moon, Unknown rising Maybe the most thematically, on-the-nose Leo book Baldwin wrote. It's beautiful and heartbreaking, like most of what he wrote. Leo rules theater, performance, identity, and the heart. This book's protagonist is a guy named Leo who is reflecting on his life and legacy as a famous black actor after suffering a heart attack on stage. It's about love in all forms - intimacy and broad adoration, and it's where this famous quote came from: "Everyone wishes to be loved, but in the event, nearly no one can bear it. Everyone desires love but also finds it impossible to believe that he deserves it."”
