I have rewatched it countless times since and every time I watch it I come away with a new insight. One of the most beautiful things to me about this documentary is how it highlights the tenacity, courage and ingenuity of people who make magic out of literally nothing but their imaginations, bravery and will to bring magic to life. It’s fucking poetry.”

Samanvita Kasthuri“everyone needs to watch this documentary at least once in their lives. the way this documentary places you in the ecosystem of ballroom - a culture and language that is still widely represented in popular media today - is incredible. there were many aspects of ballroom that i was unaware of - like the categories that a ball can have, and people can compete in said categories. the fact that balls would go on all night long. the fact that this was a way for black and brown trans and queer folk to create a system of financial support. i think that people need to stop treating art - and especially dance - as something that holds little to no value. dance is a reflection of power, society, and history. and this documentary demonstrates exactly that.”
