I Love Boosters

“one of a kind. five stars. ten out of ten. i love weird shit & that's why i love boots riley. & i love quirky black girl characters & we deserve more time on screen to share our talents with the world. & lakeith stanfield's character was such a freako creepo i couldn't stop laughing. truly amazing.”

“Oakland raised artist Boots Riley is perhaps the most interesting individual in media today. Driven by his communist background Boots can be found pushing for twitter users to go watch his new film I Love Boosters in theaters NOW! Boots’ filmography though small has some of the most successful and dense messaging of any contemporary director. His feature films Sorry to Bother You and the aforementioned I Love Boosters tackle the issues of anti-capitalism, labor unions, and consumerism just to name a few. The films are aided by there famously insane plot twist and beautiful colors. Though Boots is an incredible director his art began through the form of music, his group The Coup would spread their political ideology through their work with songs such as Kill My Landlord, 5 Million Ways To Kill A C.E.O., and The Guillotine. I had the privilege to hear Boots speak at a discussion forum on radical cinema and black cultural imagination and he was perhaps one of the most intriguing characters I’ve witnessed in my life. Exceptionally well versed in his craft his political ideology and a fresh take on the world that we’ve inherited. Anyway go watch I Love Boosters NOW!”

“a live action leftist looney tunes bursting at the seams with color and creativity so bold and bright to remind you it's not just blockbusters that demand to be seen on the big screen. equal parts hysterical, brutally honest, and infectiously hopeful for the future. absolutely adored and made me optimistic for both original filmmaking and my generation's ongoing activism against wealth inequality. boots riley's brain should be studied for science.”

“Another amazing Boots Riley film. It emphasizes world inequalities and bad work environments, told in a colorful, funny and somehow, still serious way.”

“Weird,outlandish,ridiculous and politically on point!”

“A maximalist romp that’s somehow Marxist in intention, Boots Riley does not disappoint with this much anticipated second feature. A fraternal twin to his first film Sorry to Bother You (2018), I Love Boosters exists in a world pulsing with narrative lawlessness. Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, and Taylour Paige star and offer a cinematic trifecta of charismatic abundance. Though the world of fast fashion is satirized, the film itself is an ode to the creation of clothes. Lead by revered costume designer Shirley Kurata, each outfit acts as an ASMR massage for the artistic brain — the colors, the shapes, the combinations! Rent it now and prepare to gear up, get loose, and bliss out.”

“Boots Riley's new movie that got no marketing. Touches on fast fashion and consumerism and its effect on society and health. Soo freaking good. Those who say cinema is dead aren't paying attention <3”
