The Auditorium at Kunsthal

“This sloped room doubles as an auditorium and a ramp between floors. I love the warmth of the plank wood with the faded colorful chairs. No additional stairs are needed. The tiered platforms are lined with a grid of glowing circles. Parallel to the wooden ground is a red carpet walkway that leads you up the ramp. Below the carpet is a neutral painted floor that reads as pale grayish blue (one of my favorite color combinations). To the right of the red walkway a curtain becomes a fogged corrugated glass wall that reads as the same scale of the fabric. The function, repetition, simple materials and forms, and color do it for me. I love the legibility of the design decisions.”
