    “1980-1988 ZG was one of a kind. Based in London and largely focused on their home city along with NYC, they covered what would be traditionally considered 'lowbrow' subjects such as surveillance, sexuality, noise music, graffiti, and consumerism, but with a sharp, critical, academic tone. They succeeded in their attempt to bridge the gap between pop culture and high art and to break through "a cottage industry protected by a minority group of conservationists".
