“Twyla Tharp - Cancer Sun, Libra Moon, Libra rising Cancer is oriented around physical and emotional comfort, but it;s not just about being comfortable. I bristle when I see the wholesome, cozy-sweater-big-mug version of Cancer because that’s not the kind that pushes the boundaries of what one can tolerate. It’s the best when they throw themselves into feeling with their whole body. That’s when you really see the Cardinal modality come alive. It’s unbelievably physical (much like giving birth). It’s rebellious. It’s like the feminine counterpart to Aries. Twyla Tharp has notoriously created some of the hardest choreography dancers can do and it’s exhilarating to watch. I love when she paired with Mikhail Baryshnikov, a classic Pisces Venus ballerino, and everyone booed because she had him working in service of her strange rubberband body rolls in sync with Frank Sinatra songs. It’s somehow all so romantic.”
