“A list of strangers I have met recently.
Lucio: I thought he didn't like me because I had hardly learned any Italian, but later that night he told me countless stories and made sure to include me in what his group talked about. We sat on a park bench together for hours.
Max: He let me fall asleep on his shoulder.
Tadeo: Shared his cheesecake with me and showed me his music. Exchanged a glance with me in the car when, riding backwards down a hill, we both felt our stomachs drop like on a roller coaster.
Wilder: Brought me to an underground tunnel to explore and pulled me up when I fell in the playground, twice.
Bridget: Danced together then ran through the streets, pulling each other into doorways to kiss.
Tiago: Showed me a picture he took of me sitting on a bridge at night. I followed him and his friends around the city all night.
Emma: Lent me her scarf in the cold. I felt so comfortable talking to her, especially after we had to pee together in the bushes.
Forrest: Told me all of his travel and hitchhiking stories, then came to a museum with me.
Fabrizzio: Stopped to talk to me on an overlook about the city, finding love, etc.
Zohir: Spoke about his nomadic life in Algeria and eventual move to Marseilles. We talked about Albert Camus and his philosophies.”
