“I feel like I’ve tried a dozen times to quit paper towels. It never works, though. They’re just too useful with a really messy cleanup and certain food prep tasks. So instead of going totally cold turkey, I just buy a single roll at a time, at painful cost, and then ration very slowly as truly needed. Unlike other household staples where I’m trying to get the best price per unit, I actually find it’s been helpful to have the fact that they were so ridiculously expensive for what they are serve as a reminder that I only want to be using them when I REALLY want to be using them...you know? Also, if you’re anal (like me) it’s nice to know that you’re using unbleached when you’re drying your lettuce leaves, microwave-steaming a bun, etc.”
