“some people are surprised when i tell them that my favorite place to eat in la is actually in ojai, but they’ve clearly never been to rory’s place. it’s rare to witness a restaurant get everything (design, menu, cocktails, atmosphere, merch) but that’s what keeps me coming back time and time again. the passion fruit aguachile nearly makes me forget about the 90 minute drive.”

“Someone once described Rory’s Place as one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, even though it's 80 miles away in Ojai. I can’t remember who said it, but I can see why. Rory's Place is the more grown-up sister to Rory’s Other Place next door (my rec for that here). They focus on live-fire cooking and seasonal California ingredients, and it is just so, so good. And it's worth following them on IG to see upcoming chef collabs, which are always interesting. Must book this one in advance. You might even need to plan your whole trip around this reservation.”
