Case Western Reserve University ACE Book Sale

“Is the opening morning of the ACE book sale my favorite day of the year in Cleveland? Emphatically yes. On the first weekend after Memorial Day, a temporary wonderland appears: tens of thousands of books, art books, albums, CDs, and old magazines are offered for sale at shockingly good prices. I pay the $25 preview fee, and it is still worth it--I always find a cartload of treasures (actual cartloads: we take the collapsible wheely wagon and the silver Hulken). A true wonderland of de-accessioned library books and donated professorial libraries, as well as ephemera, including sheet music. And they reduce the prices as the weekend continues; on Monday, you can fill a box for $10 (used to be $5; inflation is real). It's currently in a bit of a smaller space, but I hope it returns to the airy expanse of Adelbert Gym once the renovations there are done.”
