PracticaFirst to rec“How on earth could we start with anything else. The gorgeously shot, brilliant acted and endlessly rewatchable show about creativity, business, NYC, LA and a rapidly changing culture couldn't be more 'us' if it tried. Every time we begin again we see ourselves in a new character, Peggy first, then Don, now Burt? Who knows who we'll identify with next. There is endless inspiration, truth and beauty found within its seven spectacular seasons. Zou Bisou Bisou to you.”

jmd“Just finishing up a Mad Men rewatch and mainly just wanted a place to say goddamn, what a show. “The Suitcase” (S4E7) and “The Other Woman” (S5E11) are amazing high points on a consistently great series. It’s gotta be either this or The Wire for best TV drama of all time, and this probably wins for me, at least in part because it ran two seasons longer and S5 of the The Wire wasn’t quite on the same level as the rest. (No shade on Breaking Bad or The Sopranos.)”

Practica“So what if it's fictional? It's stunning, inspiring, ruthlessly modern for its time and pretty much its own character in a series that feels intrinsically Practica. The Rothko, the magazine racks, the paneling, that phone booth — who could deny that this is where the creative visionaries did their best envisioning?”

Peter“I don’t know what other show I am pleasantly haunted by as consistently as this one. The other day I saw an incredible bit where someone tried clowning on the show’s writing and then if you went to their profile, you’d be informed that you were reading the ramblings of an ex-speech writer for Kamala Harris. Maybe that person’s bio and scrawlings were actually sincere but in my head it was the perfect bit. I’ve watched Mad Men twice. The second watch-through culminated with me finishing the finale on my 26th birthday, which I’ve since determined held no importance numerologically but it felt like there was some gravity to it in the moment. I’m 27 now, already itching for another go at those mad men.”
