“Some foods stay with you forever, and for me, the cheesecake and carrot cake from Hungarian Pastry Shop will always be that. 🥕 Every birthday during the school year, without fail, my suitemates and I would celebrate with these two specific slices. Maybe a random third slice would be added, but the two were always a no-brainer. We’d split these small slices between the six of us, and it’s just always been that way. Now that we’re further away, no longer live together, and visits to Morningside are a rarity, each bite feels even more special and nostalgic. While my love for these slices is heavily tied to those memories, I’d still very much rank these as one of my fav cheesecakes and carrot cakes in the city. For the cheesecake in particular, I love a dense, firm cheesecake (never been a huge fan of soft ones), and Hungarian has perfected the texture, all the way down to the crust.
