Station Eleven

“When this came out people were talking about how this was such a cathartic show in the midst of our collective COVID-19 trauma. Did we learn anything? Maybe not. I cried so much watching it that I haven’t tried rewatching it. Incredible post-apocalyptic Chicago scenes in mostly winter, then around Lake Michigan in summer. Obviously my favorite character is Frank!!!”

“Possibly the most beautiful tv show ever made. The rare occurrence where both the source material, the book by Emily St.James Mandel, and the tv show are amazing works of art. This show did not get enough love when it came out!”

“This show is apocalyptic, epic, hopeful, dreamy, cinematic, full of wonder. It’s a real special watch.”

“how come no one talked about this”

“This book may have come to me exactly at the right time, but I think there’s something magical about it. For whatever reason I expected to be somewhat of a beach read, but reading it felt somewhat life changing. If you read it, I’d be curious to know if you see/experience that magic too or if it’s just one of those stories that arrives exactly when it’s needed.”

“An adaptation that for me surpasses its source material. For lovers of science fiction and cinema.”

“The scene where they are performing Shakespeare and wearing costumes made of sporks lives in my mind forever.”

“I loved it when I watched it a few years ago and only just read the book this summer… they’re so different but both so gorgeous. I can’t stop thinking about them! What a beautiful mind to be able to imagine this time.”

“The book and the TV show are exceptional. Such a shame HBO released it weeks before the pandemic.”
