Emily TeagueFirst to rec“Peggy Guggenheim lived boldly, proving that intuition, courage, and defiance could shape the course of modern art. Her Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice is not just a museum but a living monument to her fearless vision, where her unconventional choices and uncompromising spirit still resonate. Her story is not just one of art, but a testament to the human spirit and the courage to forge your own path. When I lose sight of my true north, Peggy and her extraordinary art collection remind me to course correct- prontamente!”

Set inside her home at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in Venice, the collection reflects the artists she championed, many of whom she had close relationships, making the experience deeply personal. Don’t miss: Landscape with Red Spots No. 2 by Wassily Kandinsky, Birth of Liquid Desires by Salvador Dalí, Alchemy by Jackson Pollock, Woman, Moon, Birds by Joan Miró, and The Antipope by Max Ernst—five works that were deeply personal to Peggy, that reflect both her early support of avant-garde artists and the intimate, experimental spirit of her collection. (My favorite museum in the world.)”

even*cleveland“Went to the Peggy Guggenheim palazzo when we were in Venice mostly because I wanted to visit her grave and the sweet memorial to her beloved Lhasa Apsos, but also enjoyed seeing the Jenny Holzer benches, the shimmering headboard and earrings Calder made for her, the two Joseph Cornell boxes, the spare and angular chairs tucked in the room corners that no one can sit on any more, and the radiant pigments chromatically arranged in the conservation studio. It was also lovely to observe the big tree in her courtyard garden, maybe the biggest one we saw the whole time we were in Venice.”

amparology“One of Europe's jewels of 20th-century modern art. Peggy Guggenheim was a dynamic, self-described "art addict" and muse who single-handedly reshaped modern culture.”
