“A quick ferry ride from Brooklyn or Manhattan, Governor's Island is an easy trip for kids to a place that feels so remote but also in the middle of NYC. There's great playgrounds, food, and plenty of space for kids to run free — and car free!”

“A deeply uncanny place. We went there on a Wednesday in the summer and it felt like we had the island more or less to ourselves. But it’s right next to downtown and there are helicopters buzzing overhead the whole time. My kids especially enjoyed the slide playground at the southern end of the island.”
