Luis is a father looking for his missing daughter lost to a nomadic desert rave scene. The deeper Luis goes into the desert the closer he comes to hell. One of the best, most engrossing films I’ve seen in the past five years.”

Henry“Thought this got weirdly covered by (American) film critics who were mostly fixated on the violence of rave culture or something (?). Anyway the mystic reading of it is a lot more exciting. A+”

katie“one of the greatest films i’ve ever seen. …and understandably has received drastically polarized reviews. sirat is an unsettling spiritual masterpiece that requires us to surrender all hope and knowing. 1) do not watch this by yourself 2) the less you know going into it the better 3) see this in theaters if you can. if not, be sure the sound where you watch it is top quality. also recommending this interview with the director (includes spoilers)”

Patrick“Sirât is the type of film that grabs you by the collar, shakes you into an anxious frenzy, and spits you back out into the world wondering what the hell you just witnessed. Directed by Oliver Laxe, the Cannes-winning drama is a road movie that makes Mad Max look tame by comparison, though fantasy film this is not. Instead, the hyper-realistic, organic, textured imagery of the Moroccan desert is juxtaposed with EDM music and the grisly, haphazard shrapnel of war. If you’re wearing pearls, they will most definitely be clutched for the duration of its runtime. 5/5 Stars. Follow me on Letterbox’d.”

Andrew Ellis“Soulful all the way down.”
