“I have to admit I haven’t read the canonical JD besides Magical Thinking but this book really sat well with me. I love her for transcending the confines of women’s lit and yet bringing the dreamy fluidity of a distinctly female pov to this journalistic thriller/noir. Also a great opportunity to brush up on the dirty history of the USA! The film adaptation has 5% of rotten tomatoes- try to avoid even glancing at the film stills.”
