“A very moving inter-generational family drama about a Korean family living in Japan. Hits harder for those of us with two sons with old-testament names.”

“My all time favorite book”

“Epic family saga. Beautiful writing. Fair warning, it will break your heart.”

“Had the pleasure of reading this on a bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Incredible storytelling”

“I read this over a two week trip in Japan and it was perfect companion in every city.”

“With regards to the fundamental art of storytelling, this book is essentially perfect.”

“All-time top 3 book. “Eliot is wrong,” Akiko said, undeterred. “Maybe the Jews have a right to have their own state, but I see no need for Mirah and Daniel to have to leave England. I think this nobility argument or a greater nation for a persecuted people is a pretext to eject all the unwanted foreigners.””

“In my top 5 books of all time. Maybe the best book I have ever read.”

“A sweeping epic”

“A well written book and such an easy read.”

“One of my all-time favorite reads. It’s a multi-generational saga about women and the (sometimes) quiet yet powerful roles they play.”

“The last three pages of this book make me sob, and I re-read them often. I can’t describe this book, just read it.”

“Another heart breaker (!!!! Be warned) but an incredible book.”

“one of my favorite books ever; I had to sit in silence for a while after I finished it”
