Perfection

“[KATIE'S FIVE]”

“I honestly haven't even finished this book. In fact, I just bought it, but the description seems chilling when considering some of the life choices I've made and aspire to make. I've been asking myself a lot lately, is the life I sacrificed and strived for paying me back the way I'd hoped? The book seems to be an examination. I'm not as negative as it sounds like this title is. But I have vowed to separate what's genuinely fulfilling for me from what's been marketed to me. I think this book, Perfection, might help me examine that more critically.”

“work is life! two creative directors meander around the general schengen region. had friends from berlin say they didn’t want to read it because it was too real…telling!”

“Maybe cliched and maybe projection but tore through it so fast”

“How much of your physical life will pass as you manicure a digital one? “Perfection” makes you sit with this discomfort and grapple with the very real time you’ve invested in a very unreal world.”

“Scathing critique of millennial monoculture that is not moved by (or really interested in) knowing about a place/thing beyond its immediate aesthetic value. No I am not an European ex-pat digital nomad living in Berlin, but I still cringed at many a description of our contemporary existence. A little too on the nose at times! Will make u re-delete insta. 10/10”

“Another one that packs a punch.”

“Follows the life of a graphic designer couple (Anna and Tom, referred to as one unit - "They") in Berlin written like a catalogue of objects and places. Haunting and quiet. A little too close to home...”

“Perfection was... perfection (sorry)”

“a portrait of an expat couple, composed of the perfect insta-grid life, but what makes a place a home? as transplant myself, it's made me take a look at my own life, living as both an immigrant and an expat.”

“thoroughly enjoyed this satirical examination (dragging for filth) of millennial digital nomads!”

“a jaunt of late stage capitalist millennial 'bliss' - the bloom is off the rose in this lifestyle-maxxing cautionary tale.”
