A Gentleman in Moscow

“Such a pleasure to read, I slowed down deliberately toward the end.”

“A delightful book about an aristocrat in Russia sentenced after the Russian Revolution to life imprisonment in a luxury hotel in Moscow. I’m not necessarily a “likable characters” guy, but many of the characters are very likable. Will make you laugh and cry. Thanks to all those on Rec League who recommended it.”

“Such great characters, the kind you wish were real.”

“Endearing characters, delightful prose, fantastic food writing. One of my top ten books.”

“In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is sentenced to spend the rest of his life in a luxury hotel. His captivity expands the world around him, as he deftly dances us decades of Russian history with an unforgettable, wholly personal charm. "When all was said and done, the endeavors that most modern men saw as urgent (such as appointments with bankers and the catching of trains), probably could have waited, while those they deemed frivolous (such as cups of tea and friendly chats) had deserved their immediate attention.””

“Lovely characters, beautiful descriptions & the right amount of suspense”

“Truly the GOAT”

“A favourite re-read. Audiobook is also excellent!”
