“per the rec league hype, this book was sooo good. found it here and can confirm it was hilarious and cutting and the narration was just perfection. 5 stars”

“A disaster of a story in the best way. This family will stress you out but I rarely laugh out loud while reading and I did several times with this book. I loved Fleishman is in Trouble as well.”

“Oh boy did I feel my ancestors creeping around inside of me while reading this.”

“Roxane Gay said it best: "I love a sprawling family novel full of dysfunction, a lack of self awareness among many characters, something of a mystery and an exploration of inherited trauma. This is an incredibly densely written novel, at times too dense but it’s also funny and charming and frustrating and utterly absorbing."”

“Taffy Brodesser-Akner has a brain I admire.”

“this book is huge for the neurotic Jewish New Yorker (shoutout)(me) community”

“Gobbled it up. At times a little stressful to get through since it does chronicle a family’s decline. But so hilarious, sharp, and beautifully narrated!”
