The Testament of Ann Lee

“Shakers, child loss, celibacy, craftmanship AND a musical? Even though it felt like the movie didn't make a very specific statement, it stayed with me and kind of made me want to join a commune”

“Mother for real”

“It’s painterly, beautiful, ecstatic, and it works as a musical because that’s what it demands. It’s not a gimmick.”

“Stunning. Made my heart hurt. Mystical. Magical. I usually hate musicals and this is sort of secretly a musical and it works. Give it a try when you're in the mood for EMOTION.”

“An incredible performance by Amanda Seyfried with a cherry on top of shaker furniture at the end.”
