Konstanze“The Marriage Portrait takes place in Renaissance Florence and is the alternative history about about an insightful, inutitive child, Lucretia de' Medici, the smart and rebellious daughter of the Duke of Florence. This story is about her arranged marriage at 15 to the Duke of Ferrara, and - as stated on the first page of the book - about the rumour that her husband killed her less than a year after their wedding. I found the book quite suspenseful, but also very tender and poetic. Also, I love books about artists and seeing through their eyes how they approach their art, which was a big part of the novel.”
