““A Silent Voice” is an incredibly special movie. Absolutely devastating at parts, yes, but so worth watching. The story is much more than your average slice-of-life or romance anime, and dares to go to some dark, but honest places rarely portrayed in any media. Every character feels totally three dimensional and has their individual quirks that add up to the dynamics of the group.
It is also evident that there was so much love and care put into animating sign language for the characters and that intentionality really comes through to the viewer.
This movie made me think differently about the world and my interactions with others ever since. It’s been a while since I have watched something that has moved me this much. Go watch it :3”
