Arco

“Beautifully animated. Simple plot, yet so emotionally powered. Soundtrack was transcendent. Themes of technology’s impact on society and mental health, and broad commentary on the impending future perils in the world. Would recommend and rewatch.”

“Ugo Bienvenu (2025) A beautiful coming of age + time travel tale. The animation is sumptuous and there’s a robot character who’ll steal your heart (and possibly crush it!). Essential to watch in original French - the subplot involving the trio of brothers and their bumbling exploits is an utter delight. J'ai adoré.”

“Our family recently enjoyed two Oscar-nominated animated films: Little Amalie or the Character of Rain and Arco. totally different, both beautiful, both loved by two adults, and a 9 and 10 yo.”

“Top-shelf french animation that splits the difference between ghibli and moebius. For a movie that clocks in under 90 minutes, its world-building packs quite a punch. Somebody tell me where i can buy dougie/stewie/frankie's 🌈 glasses.”

“Arco is an Oscar-nominated animated film. Sci-fi/Adventure ‧ 1h 29m In 2075, a 10-year-old girl, Iris, sees a mysterious boy wearing a rainbow jumpsuit falling from the sky. It's Arco. He comes from a distant, idyllic future where time travel is possible. Iris takes him in and will do whatever it takes to help him return home. Where to watch: Amazon, AppleTV My Rating: 7/10 I saw this in theaters. The animation was gorgeous but the pacing was kinda bonkers. They cram a lot into the ninety minutes. I laughed, I teared up.”

“Time travel friends and a cool depiction of a far-off-utopian-future (rebuilt after climate catastrophe).”
