People just don’t sound like this anymore! (Although, as I’m writing this, I’m of course thinking of Donna Tartt’s narration of both True Grit and The Secret History…)”

Gosh, this story really sums up a tension I hold inside me around community. The ways that it nourishes us and can constrict us. The ways that it is dangerous and also essential. I can go on. But, I say:listen.think. And hear that round rich voice. And ask yourself what it means. Not to decide for certain. But to turn it over in your hand like an acorn.”
