“Okay maybe not for very extra special delicate things or suits, but all my go-to wool sweaters and silks now get the hand wash treatment. This Wirecutter article gives great explanations for how to decide if you can skip dry cleaning and why it may actually be better! But I feel like my stuff is cleaner and I’m saving so much money. Eucalan for my wools (ft. lanolin), Soak for my silks. I have a tub-like storage container I use only for handwashing so that it stays clean and available, and I don’t have to worry about soap scum or ickiness in my bathtub getting on clothes I’m trying to clean. Give things a little squeeze in a towel instead of wringing and hang or lay flat to dry. Faster than driving to and from the dry cleaner, too!”
