This Wirecutter article gives great explanations for how to decide if you can skip dry cleaning and why it may actually be better! But I feel like my stuff is cleaner and I’m saving so much money. Eucalan for my wools (ft. lanolin), Soak for my silks. I have a tub-like storage container I use only for handwashing so that it stays clean and available, and I don’t have to worry about soap scum or ickiness in my bathtub getting on clothes I’m trying to clean. Give things a little squeeze in a towel instead of wringing and hang or lay flat to dry. Faster than driving to and from the dry cleaner, too!”
