“This is the book that first coined the term “third place”, which seems like we talk about so much these days because there is such a lack of gathering places in our modern world that is neither home nor work. I recommend book clubbing this with a friend or two and sharing how you can apply what you learn to your respective communities. Note that since this book is quite old now, some of the chapters are a bit antiquated in thinking (e.g. a chapter about women’s roles), but I loved reading the primary source that first got us all thinking and talking about third places.”
