Feliway
•••
Feliway really does help settle a new cat into their environment! I don't know where you're getting this cat from, but particularly if it's an adult this will help them feel "at home" more quickly. I believe it's a synthetic analogue of a feline pheromone. The diffuser will last about a month, which should be long enough for most cats to acclimatise to their new home and personal assistant (that's you)

A catio
•••
Catio = Cat patio. A.k.a. A cat "run", or an enclosure. I love our cats, but I hate the idea of them wreaking havoc on the wildlife (especially birds). Selfishly, it's also a real pain to try to manage the not-quite-dead-bird-flying-around-in-your-house situation... Other plusses: With a catio, your cat can enjoy sun and scents, but won't get hit by a car, or get FIV, or get an abscess from a cat fight. Best investment we made for our feline friends.

Before the end of your appointment, schedule the next one
•••
Attempting to schedule via text is awful. You like seeing your friends? Before you leave the table, schedule the next occasion. Make it realistic - don’t be ashamed for proposing a long interval between (literal) drinks. Seeing them once every 6 months is better than not at all! This also works for the dentist, hairdresser, nail tech, etc. You can always reschedule!
