The Easter Parade (Richard Yates): Yates also wrote Revolutionary Road, which film I cannot bring myself to watch because I know how the book ends and can still feel it. He gets real.

Blue Sisters - Coco Mellors: man this book is intense but beautiful. a warm, tragic, incredibly accurate story about the tangled web of sisterhood at its best and worst times. i will read anything coco mellors writes (even though at some point i will definitely tear up)

Selftape (2023): A beautiful series about Catalan sisters Joana and Mireia Vilapuig. The series is dramatised but it's based on their actual lives as former child stars grappling with the challenges of life in their 20s - careers, relationships, identity, and the brutal film industry. At the centre of the story is the complicated and stoic relationship of the sisters. It's quite moving and personal, unlike anything I've seen really.

Probably hard to find outside of Spain's FilmIn platform but I highly recommend it if you can access it!

Howards End (2017): howards end!!!! a beautiful 4 episode miniseries adapted by king kenneth lonergan featuring a cast of icons you know now but maybe didn’t in 2017?? rosalind eleazar, joseph quinn, alex lawther, and jonah hauer-king, to name a few! PLUS hayley atwell & matthew macfadyen!! and tracey ullman!

bad sisters: Bad Sisters is fantastic at the sister dynamic of triangulation - talking about one sister between any number of the other sisters. Makes me wish I had one more daughter so they can check in with one about the other, a favorite activity in my own sibling group of 3 😆

The Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingsolver: I've loved everything I've read by Kingsolver, but my god how did she research and write this book. Had me learning the geography and history of the Congo. Incredible, a must read. Told from alternating perspectives of the mother and four daughters moved to a small village in the Congo by their missionary father in 1959.

All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews: This book is about two Mennonite sisters, each who have a very different life but care deeply for each other. They have to make difficult decisions and have hard conversations but it is filled with profound grace. Miriam Toews is an incredible writer who focuses a lot on the Canadian Mennonite community. I sobbed the last 50 pages like a baby and then called my sister.
