Calling all green thumbs! What should I plant in Zone 6a? I keep bees and am most interested in native plants. For an added challenge: my garden is extremely shady and soil is disturbed by a Norwegian Maple.

My first pick for shady, moist soil conditions in temperate climes. Attractive astilbe-like mounds erupt with tall dramatic spikes festooned with tiny whitish-pink flowers in late summer, drawing pollinators and keeping the deer at bay. Drama!
