Cold Brew
Cold Brew is a staple of American coffee and is one of the most popular ways to drink coffee cold. One of the strongest brewing methods, Cold Brew is also generally more caffeinated than drip coffee due to a lower coffee-to-water ratio and longer brewing time. Cold brew is unique because it is one of the few brewing methods that doesn't involve heat. It is also one of the simplest ways to make coffee at home: Grind your coffee as coarse as possible, put it in a jar or pitcher, and leave it to infuse for 24-48 hours. Come back, remove the grounds, and enjoy! You can do this by just leaving the grounds suspended in water (but this can make draining the coffee incredibly frustrating and time-consuming since the fines tend to settle and can really only be effectively filtered via a paper filter). Instead, cold brew infusers have become increasingly popular, and this Hario product is a great choice! I enjoy cold brew, but I can't drink it black. I prefer a 1-10 or 1-11 ratio between coffee and water, ground incredibly coarse. I find a 48-hour steeping time tends to be overpowering, so I typically go for 24-30 hours. If you want to start making coffee at home, Cold Brew is a great and cheap way to get started!
