Directly across from my friend’s apartment so convenient for me but otherwise a little out of the way. Incredibly preserved art. Nice tours.

This church is so old and so cool with some of the oldest extant Christian art. Only lit by natural light. Next door is a lovely orange grove to hang out in. Also one of my best friends lives here so let me know if you want a tour with a Dominican priest

Locations in both Garbatella and Monteverde. I’ve enjoyed both, and they have different vibes. Garbatella is darker and cozier with street seating, Monteverde is more modern and open with a covered patio. Relaxed crowd, good snacks.

Modern trattoria with classic Roman food. The maritozzo is incredible with malted flour. One time a guy punched me in the arm outside this place because I was getting on the bus at the bus stop when he wanted to cut through traffic on an e-bike.

Central Garden Villa in Rome

The upstairs feels like a boat and the vibe is perfect. Mid-century Rome. The host’s grandfather previously lived here, and now they rent it out. The location is incredible, but you don’t even really need to leave because there’s a really sweet courtyard with a kumquat tree. It’s not one of the flashy options that feels like a once in a lifetime stay (and features older house quirks, like a leaky shower and needing to use a blow dryer in the kitchen because of outlets), but it’s easy to pretend that this is just your own home in Monteverde.
