Smoothie “recipe”- Kitchen Sink Smoothie
•••
Did you know you can throw a lot of things in a smoothie and it will still taste pretty good? A great way to use up produce and nuts/seeds that are on their last hurrah. I have a Vitamix so no soaking etc required. Here is my usual. Not really exact quantities as I’m just sort of throwing in what I have. Greek yogurt Peanut butter Protein powder Chia seeds Hemp hearts Dates Nuts or seeds (whatever is slightly expired or about to) Avocado Frozen kale Frozen spinach Frozen cauliflower or carrots (I swear you cannot taste it) Bananas Frozen berries This will usually make about 4-5 smoothies worth. I’ll pour into two large mason jars and keep them in the fridge to drink over the coming days. You could freeze portions but I haven’t found that to be necessary if I have some each morning.

Crisp Gnocchi With Brussels Sprouts and Brown Butter Recipe
•••
A heavyyyy hitter in my household. Combo of easy and delicious, plus plenty of Brussels sprouts (health!) to distract from the less nutritionally dense ingredients. I do halve the butter and I just zest my lemon on a microplane vs the method in the recipe.

Snacking Cakes by Yossy Arefi
•••
A baking book that I’ve nearly baked all the recipes from with many repeats. I get requests from people for the cakes from this book. Best part is majority are pretty simple mix and pours, and there’s recommendations with each recipe on how to mix it up.

Sohla El-Waylly Crisped Kale Salad with Candied Pecans and Maple Dressing
•••
From her book Start Here. Game changer here is the kale preparation- two people can easily eat three bunches of lacinto kale because of how it’s cooked down. I added Trader Joe’s unexpected cheddar but the recipe itself is vegan. The candied pecans are amazing- planning to make extra next time for a snack.
