Gimme your favorite funny books, please....
Gimme your favorite funny books, please. I have finished all of Nora Ephron, Samantha Irby, and Bill Bryson. Not quite in the mood for David Sedaris, but I may test that theory. Essays are fine, Fiction or non, just good, funny writing please!

All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot by Lucinda Price
•••
Internet icon and CEO of silly’s memoir, All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot, offers a vulnerable and relatable exploration of our complex relationship with body image, fatphobia, and diet culture, all while weaving in nostalgic reflections of growing up in the 2000s. Lucinda’s candid storytelling exposes the insecurities we all grapple with, highlighting the pressures to conform and the absurdity of striving to meet unrealistic beauty standards. She ruminates on everything from early attempts to emulate Victoria’s Secret models to Ozempic's chokehold on current beauty ideals. Balancing vulnerability with humour takes a special kind of talent, but Froomes does it effortlessly. (excerpt from my substack)

I read a LOT. This is one of the only books I’ve ever laughed out loud at. Loved it so much.

If it’s a funny book you're after, look no further than Patricia Lockwood’s memoir of having a literal priest as a daddy. This book made me lol so often that all three of my roommates insisted on reading it too.

Going Postal by Terry Pratchett
$9.99
•••
Moist von Lipwig, a conman on death row, is given an ultimatum by the despot that runs the city-state of Ankh-Morpork: Be executed for his crimes, or… serve as postmaster and revive the city’s ancient, moribund postal service (???) Hijinks ensue. Pratchett gets me laughing aloud at least once per page. Don’t let the fact that it’s part of a series dissuade you, it stands alone & has been a big hit with both the fantasy & non-fantasy readers (me!) in my life.

Shows up on most (all??) “funny books” lists but deservedly so. The description of a hangover alone makes it worthwhile.
