Requests from Karen Fischer

What books include your favorite sex scenes, sensuality, or otherwise erotic elements? Certainly does not have to be 'erotica' proper, but perhaps a book with a scene you still remember clearly to this day.

What's the most erotic song you've ever heard?

What's your favorite scary movie? This is the month to binge on goodies! Extra points for movies that are less well-known.

What's your favorite gift to give? I get these great ideas but then blank out on them when it's actually time to buy something.

What's part of your self-care routine to prepare for contentious events? I.e. if you must be somewhere for 2-5 days and know that it may be stressful, emotional, or difficult, what do you do to prepare?

Favorite documentary you've discovered recently? Can be old or young, but hopefully it has subtitles!

What's your favorite soundtrack? Doesn't have to have 10/10s all the way through, but even 5-6 solid tracks is noteworthy. It's a nice hack to find a good mix tape.

What's the most perfect song, in your humble opinion? I recently discovered one, IMHO, and every time I listen to it I'm like, "Wow this is designed so flawlessly - lyrics, tone, instruments, chorus, bridge, cadence." The album the song is on doesn't have to be notable, but what's your all-star single track?

What's your favorite album to listen to front to back? I need some recommendations for when I do my makeup in the morning. Open to any genre, and totally okay with an album that may only have a few star tracks, but still comes together well.

I have a Substack called The Gumbo Pot where I write about infrastructure, energy, food, culture, education, and health. What are some good newsletters to look into that may be open to advertisements to help me link up with readers who may be interested in these topics?

Has anyone read any good fiction that intersects with human trafficking in some way? (Beyond Bryn Greenwood)

Does anyone recommend any books about massage therapists? Preferably fiction.
