skout vintage shop
•••
the sweetest and most thoughtful vintage store in stockbridge. i found dishware (that i sadly couldn't bring home but would've done so in a heartbeat), a few cashmere sweaters, and many other goodies. could've spent ages longer in here too. this spot is located right near rare bird books and the write stuff.

"the write stuff" in edinburgh
•••
if you need stationary and/or love pens / journals / paper / ink this is the place for you. the clerk will help you test out whatever you like, and if you describe what you're looking for they'll match you to a few options that you can try.

holyrood castle
•••
head over here, even if only to enjoy the grounds and gardens. if you go in here, it doesn't take too terribly long to get through and the audio guided tour is really informative and helpful to listen to.

rare bird bookshop
•••
imagine... a bookshop that features ONLY books that are written by women... all genres... pink bookshelves. i was in here for about 2 hours and listened to a number of patrons come in with specific questions, "i am looking for a book for a friend that is spooky, but not too spooky, maybe something like dark academia but not too dark." the booksellers here are highly-qualified, well-read, and knowledgable (and kind). this place will hopefully await me in the afterlife.

appin
•••
a few hours north of edinburgh, appin is a seaside country village with rolling hills, dramatic mountain scenery, and approximately 2 restaurants. we stayed in a sheep farm here and made day-excursions for hiking and to oban for a distillery tour. i took advantage of the sustrans cycle track for runs and walks. many a heeland coo are ready to be seen, as well. visit castle stalker (above) and glencoe as extra special treats. go to the old inn for sticky toffee pudding in the evening, and the adjoining cafe for a coffee in the mornings!
