Homemade Pickles

It all started when I had a bunch of vegetables that were on their last legs. I am pretty hung up on food waste, and therefore they had to be saved! I found this recipe in Alison Roman’s Dining In—I did the Basic Salt and Pepper Brine, and have been addicted ever since my first jar. Anytime I see vegetables that are past their prime, I promptly get to pickling—adding garlic, green onion stalks, herbs. Each batch tastes different, and they are just so pretty.

Caraway Trash & Recycling Duo

If you’re allowed to be in love with a trash bin, this is the one! I am truly obsessed with this trash system. At our last apartment, we had the smallest bin under our sink, and a paper sack hanging on the exterior for our recyclables. As you can imagine, it was not chic! And not efficient. When we moved, I knew we would obviously be getting an upgrade, and I spent SO long researching the best system. I also was taking into account that we’d be taking our trash down three flights of stairs every time, so I wanted something that could store a lot and limit our journeys down! This bad boy from Caraway was the answer! It has three compartments, as you can see! lol One each for trash, paper, and glass/plastic. The recycling side stores SO much (please see all the paper that fits in one bin below), and the bins are easily removable so you can clean them when needed. Also, it’s so sleek, and the green color was a true bonus. It comes in a fun range of colors so you can match it to your aesthetic—your trash aesthetic :-) It is an investment, but it’s something we use every day, and something we look at every day, so I think it’s worth it!
