Macedonian folklore inspired skirt
•••
A skirt designed and hand made by a local designer in my hometown. The red section is part of traditional Macedonian costume worn in the 1900s by our grandmas. It’s handmade from red wool. I see designer continually take inspiration from the periods in the past, why can’t we do the same? I’m curious, would someone wear this casually in London or New York?

Connect with your roots
•••
This is a traditional pattern form Macedonia (and all Balkan countries) which my mom made. I’m so excited to wear it on this bag!! Makes it personal and breaks the Longchamp bag saturation on the tube every day.

Listen to your home country radio in the morning
•••
One for my diaspora friends. Signal - mobile app that connects to all Macedonian radio. I love listening to my Macedonia radio in the morning and until recently I didn’t know an app like this exists. And it’s pretty common so I’m sure all countries have it. So if you’ve moved half way across the continent and sometimes miss home, trust me this will make your morning!!

Macedonian embroidery
•••
It’s crazy to me that every woman knew how to create something like this 70-80 years ago. The above is Macedonian traditional embroidery. Inspired by Byzantine and Persian fashion style, women in the Balkans developed their own garment decorations. Red always is the most dominant colour probably due to available materials but I like to think it symbolises blood - for all the wars these women had to live through.

The Milence Dress
•••
Dress inspired by the milence pattern widely known in the Balkans. This is a material every grandma would have on top of her 10cm wide TV as decoration. Such an inspiration seeing this pattern on a dress connecting roots to the modern world. Connect with your roots, always!!
