Marriage Meetings

I have been married for roughly three months so take my advice with a block of salt - but I have been a fan of these meetings for a long time. I used them in several relationships over the course of my adult life (spoiler alert - not all of them lasted) and continue to return to them as a great source of connection and camaraderie especially navigating an international move and feral toddler.

Girl yes - can confirm. I've been married 11 years and we aim to have these meetings every Sunday. The weeks we do are always smoother weeks!

my now-husband and I started doing this when we moved in together a decade ago and it’s so useful (ours are Wednesdays at a bar/on a walk/anywhere out of the apt)

I recognize this takes an opt-in from both parties, so anyone have advice to nudge a partner who is constitutionally opposed to such an idea?

I have been thinking about this a lot and had some esperience with similar stances and nudging has never worked for me — I think the only thing I’d say is maybe trying to get clarity on where the oposition is coming from and structuring around that so it feels safe and fun for everyone, and if not that maybe just figuring out what aspects you need from the format and trying to get those needs met in more mutually appealing ways.

Yes! Love these. We’re going on 14yrs. I call them Summit Meetings, which makes it seem more fun. We don’t have a standing time but they happen about once a month.
