"This brooch was probably worn by the wife or mother of an American serviceman during the Second World War. Its design is that of a Service Flag, the official banner that may be displayed by an American family who have someone serving in the armed forces during a time of conflict. The banners were introduced in 1917 and were in widespread use during the Second World War. On the banners the blue star, representing the family member, would be replaced with a gold one if he or she were killed in action." - Victoria and Albert Museum

This lustrous jewel really got around: 8 celestial gemstones (a.k.a. blue-flash moonstones) are embellished with electric blue, decidedly earthbound gems (from Montana - Yogo Gulch to be more precise) in this enchanting flower pendant dating back to the early-twentieth century. Hand-fabricated in 15ct. rosy-yellow gold, hence very likely of British origin! 7/8 inch diameter, the new chain measures 18 inches. - Lang Antiques

Custom Sapphire and Platinum Engagement Ring for Cecilia

Simone had the delight (and pressure!) of working with Yeab to design an engagement ring for her sister Cecilia. Yeab wanted to surprise Cecilia with a beautiful ring that aligned with her classic style but was low enough to her hand to be practical for her day to day as a doctor. Knowing that Cecilia’s eyes would light up for a gorgeous sapphire, Simone sourced the juiciest true royal blue sapphires for Yeab to select from. He chose this square emerald cut, inspiring Simone to select epaulette side diamonds. The setting was hand fabricated in platinum with graphic prongs and partial bezels to give the piece a modern feeling.

SPUR JEWELRY - Statement Climber Earrings

If you've been following us over the years, you know we love a statement climber. These earrings for Vanessa were part of a truly special project, we were working with diamonds passed down from her grandmother, to her late mother, to Vanessa. The original jewelry, while sentimental, featured very high settings that catch on everything. Not ideal for events! We designed several pieces for Vanessa that are occasion-worthy yet wearable. One of the unique aspects of jewelry renovation is that we're often working with diamonds or gemstones in one or two specific calibrated sizes from the original piece of jewelry. Without a mix of sizes, achieving an organic-looking cluster layout can be a challenge. Sourcing additional gemstones or diamonds allows us to build beautiful, nature-inspired clusters. For Vanessa, we sourced stunning blue sapphires, adding pops of color and drawing the eye around the earring. A final cluster of diamonds dangles from the bottom, dancing along the earlobe to add movement and sparkle as she wears them.

Emily came to us with storied pieces from her husband’s late grandmother that she wanted to transform. This hinged bangle is one of our favorite recent pieces! The wavy profile and asymmetrical gemstones give the bangle a playful feeling elevated by thoughtful craftsmanship including a subtle hidden hinge on the side. Emily’s original materials including the storied 1.28ct round diamond that needed a ‘cleanse’ and is the focal point of the bangle.
