Fire up your conspiracy brain! It's even worse than you think! Plastic recycling is a lie made up by the petrochemical industry (I say this as someone who continues to pay extra money to recycle plastic film like it will absolve me), any hope of reasonable industry regulation has been crushed by lavishly-funded lobbying, and your own body is irreparably polluted with microplastics that are slowly poisoning you.

Every once in a while, I pick up something covered in multiple layers of unnecessary plastic packaging at the store, I think about this book, and then I put that thing down and feel a little bit better about myself. And then I leave that store and put on my plastic sunglasses and get in my fiberglass car and try not to think about how every single thing I do involves fossil fuels.
