On a day where I’m working or studying from home, I love to have a simmer pot on the stove for as long as I can. My favorite things to add are: rosemary, grated ginger, cinnamon sticks, apples, oranges, and lemons. I usually change up the ingredients based on the season or how I’m feeling, but there’s nothing better than your house smelling cozy. I am sometimes sensitive to candles or perfumes, but I haven’t found the scent from a simmer pot to bother me, and I love the way it spreads slowly to every corner of the house. Add jazz music in the background, and you’ll feel your shoulders and jaw start to relax. Truly one of the rituals/practices that makes me feel the most calm.
