Ojo Caliente: The OG hot spring / spa, North of Santa Fe is worth the drive.  You can use a day pass or spend the night.  Either way, the food and facilities are divine.  Two days wasn’t enough for us.  Also loved the spa treatments. I’ve been twice and I can’t wait to go back.

Georgia Okeefe home tour: Magical. The house is as she left it when she moved to Santa Fe in 1994. To see her kitchen, her studio, her closet…truly magical. Did I cry? Maybe. Will I go again? Absolutely. (Get on the waitlist if there are no tickets for when you will be there - at least 4 of the dozen people on my tour, including me, were waitlisters.)

Big Star Books: Love this used bookstore. Tons of hidden gems and really well curated. All tucked away in a cute house.

Cafe Fina: It’s a boomer haven, but the boomers have it figured out here. It’s on the way to Galisteo and the Pecos regions—so good place to stop for breakfast on the way to a hike. You can’t go wrong with what you order but I always get the Migas or the shaker lemon pie.

Dolina, which I think is run by the ex-wife of the owner of Fina, is also excellent and located closer to the city center. (They share some of the same menu items.)

You can still scratch the itch for New Mexican cuisine with both, but they have good variety based on local fresh ingredients and their own authentic take on good food.

The Shed: Brightly colored classic since at least the 1970s. The chilled raspberry soup is nice for a little chile respite (the chile is also great). Tia Sophia’s and Tomasita’s are also obligatory.

Santa Fe Margarita Trail: A great way to tour local restaurants and get stamps for margaritas along the way. Technically you can get a shirt but the picking up the physical passport is the better souvenir. No official bonus points for pairing with chips and queso but it just makes more sense.
