Los Angeles opera company committed to accessible, entertaining performances that bring in new audiences. price points are excellent too, much more affordable than LA opera. they do ‘parody’ productions that draw in a lot of people (star trek seraglio, super mario magic flute) i also like that there’s a community engagement element of everything they do. opera is something everyone can enjoy!

Man I love this place. I got a DVD player off Facebook marketplace just so I could rent DVDs from here. I really love the whole theater experience, too - easier to feel immersed, communal experience, etc. It’s gotten me to watch things I never would have seen otherwise. Also, some movies you should watch on big screen instead of smaller screen (and especially not little screen)

Art show in an abandoned Sizzler. Something about the interplay of contemporary art, the kitchen and all it entails, and millennial nostalgia for a kind of kitsch place, all playing into and recontextualizing perceptions of each other. There’s much more to be said about this show, but I found it a thoughtful and disorienting experience

An art show/experience that felt like this disorienting/hyperreal memory of the moment right before the world collapsed into the internet. Being there gave me some kind of a rush of almost deja-vu (nostalgia is too ‘fond’ to use here)
