Alias Books East

Used to be there was Alias Books West and Alias Books East -- run by two brothers. Alas, only East remains on Glendale Blvd in Atwater and it's a gem. My rec is to go in with a loose idea of a type of book your looking for and ask the owner, Patrick, to help suggest a couple of titles. Then buy 'em both! Works every time.

Doesn't get much better than a 100 year old movie theater. Built in 1923 and going strong.

Bar Sinizki

It's hard to capture Bar Sinizki in a photo but the gist is you're walking down Glendale Blvd in Los Angeles and you walk in these blue doors and enter Central Europe circa whenever you want. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all great. Go whenever you need a portal to another continent.

Yeah, maybe someone at RAD is married to someone at Block Shop. And maybe RAD copied them when they opened up a retail location in Atwater Village on Glendale Blvd. in Los Angeles. The fact remains it's one of the best stores in the world!!

Tacos Villa Corona

This legendary burrito spot has been going strong since the 1990s -- eventually christened by Anthony Bourdain in the early aughts. Go for the Papas Bacon if you eat meat -- the RAD team has probably consumed thousands by now, which started way before we moved in two doors down with our design store and showroom.
